My interview with Tom Lawlor from the last M-1 Global show that almost did not happen due to audio trouble – good times!

While most of you will be at home watching UFC 117 on pay-per-view this Saturday evening, I will be at the M-1 Global Selection Americas 3 event in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Am I worried that I will miss Silva cave in Sonnen’s face? Not really since I can catch that on replay, and I would rather see an event live than a PPV.

For those of you in the tri-state area who either do not have a way to watch the UFC show or just want to see a live event in person and catch the big show’s replay later, I suggest you come on down to check out the M-1 show. This is their third show and the last two were pretty good. Now as they wind down their American selection events, we are getting down to some very exciting match-ups! I am looking forward to seeing Tom Gallicchio, who we talked to earlier in the week, battle Aaron Meisner. Tom had a great match at the last show and I predict he will have fight of the night again at this one!

Another potential barn burner will be American Top Team’s Medhi Hassan taking on Team Bomb Squad’s Pat Bennett, who me and perennial vlog partner Peter Lampasona spoke with last weekend on “Cage Radio”. At the last show, both men scored brutal knockout wins over their opponents. In fact, Medhi’s opponent was out for a few minutes after their bout! These two going at it will be interesting as Bennett is prone to slug while Medhi picks his shots, but both have heavy power in their hands.

Also competing are Tyson Jeffries of Team Quest against Plinio Cruz, American Top Team’s Byron Byrd, who at the last show set the new M-1 fastest knockout record in about ten seconds, going against Sammy “Vicious” Collingwood, and “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Shane Primm against Mike Geurin, plus many others! All in all, ten fights that are going to be pretty exciting and worth checking out if you are in the area.

Oh, and if that was not enough of a reason to go and support local MMA fighters, Fedor Emelianeko will be in the house. “The Last Emperor” will be holding a question and answer session for the press first, followed by an autograph signing for fans at 6. Check out M-1global.com for more details and if you end up going, say hi to me – I will be the nerd with the giant sideburns hanging out ringside!
