John Cena: No chance in the UFC!

For those dreaming of having WWE wrestler John Cena come to the world of MMA, keep dreaming.

In town for a taping of “Monday Night Raw” at the TD Garden in Boston, Cena told The Boston Globe, “It’s just not something that particularly interests me.’’ He also stated, “UFC is where boxing was years ago, and I was never really into boxing, either.’’ He prefers professional wrestling because it’s “regulated entertainment that’s safe for anyone to enjoy.’’ And the UFC? “It is what it is,’’ he said. “It can be pretty over the top, and it’s not something I’d want my children to watch.’’

Well, it goes to show that John Cena, as much as he portrays a tough guy in the ring, wouldn’t risk that image in the cage. Cena seems like a conservative when it comes to MMA, but wrestling is just as ‘over the top’, if not more than MMA, with certain angles and storylines. What do you think – Is UFC, MMA in general, ‘over the top’?

  1. Come on John Cena… are you serious? I think letting kids watch ‘pro wrestling'(especially in this era) is way more damaging. All the drama, boobs, sex, fake acting, fake blood… sounds like a circus to me.

If he doesn’t want to step into the octagon, then so be it. It’s no big deal. Follow the $$$, and if WWE is where it’s at, then so be it.

  2. I completely agree with “WL”. I think I would actually prefer my children to watch MMA than the WWE. Kids don’t even know wrestling is fake. So, they see gang beatings and guys hitting each other over the head with chairs, followed by a lot of blood etc..

At least with MMA, it’s just two guys in a fair fight. I plan on putting my kids in martial arts at a young age anyway so hopefully they’ll have a better understanding of it anyway..

  3. My son is currently serving in Afghanistan with the US Army. He tells me all the kids there call the all the soldiers John Cena!!
    Cute huh? 🙂
