Steven Soderberg’s “Haywire” (formerly known as “Knockout”) will be getting an early release in New York City. Originally slated to open in January 2011, Lion’s Gate dropped the film only to have it picked up by Overture Films, and so the release date was pushed back to March 2011. Lucky for us New Yorkers, we get a sneak peek before then!

Opening this Friday, October 15th Steven Soderberg’s Haywire will be screened in only one theater in NYC – the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square! The movie will also only be playing for a limited one week engagement, after that you are on your own to find a way to see this.

Starring Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Angarano, Mathieu Kassovitz and Bill Paxton, the film surrounds Gina Carano as a black-ops super-soldier (what other kind is there?) who seeks revenge after she is betrayed and set up during a mission. Nothing we haven’t seen before in an action flick, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Tickets and showtimes are at this link here. No word on if any of the actors will be in town for the screening, but here is hoping Gina is at least there. It’s not like she’s training for a fight or anything important like that. Any one plan on seeing this when it opens?
