It’s a truly star-studded news day here today, first with the announcement of Wesley Snipes new video game and now this!

As we mentioned yesterday, Kevin James is a big fan of MMA. He has trained with Bas Rutten, had several MMA fighters on his hit King of Queens” show including Dan Henderson, Quinton Jackson and Randy Couture, and even his brother has had “El Guapo” in his web series, “Dusty Peacock.” It should come as no surprise that James would eventually work on a film about MMA, and it seems that time has come.

The film is currently untitled, but Collider.com just recently announced that Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer) has signed on to direct the film, which was written by Allan Loeb. Deadline says the untitled picture will feature James as a physics teacher who “moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter to raise money and save the music program his students love.” Bas Rutten has also just confirmed his involvement in the film on his twitter account, so things are looking good!

The untitled MMA movie will reunite Coraci and James who recently collaborated on the upcoming comedy “Zookeeper”. That film is due out July 8, 2011. In addition to Zookeeper, James can be seen this weekend alongside Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Queen Latifah, and Channing Tatum in “The Dilemma”. No release date has been announced or speculated yet, but here is hoping that this movie does better than WWE’s attempt at making an MMA movie.
