What is with fighters and social networking sites these days? Do they know how many PR guys they are putting out of jobs by doing their work for them?
Manny Gamburyan announced last night on his facebook page at around 7 PM EST that he would be returning to the UFC octagon at UFC 128 in New Jersey to take on Raphael Assuncao. Both men are moving up from the WEC back to the original thanks to the merger, while Manny looks to return to his winning ways. His last fight was a loss to Jose Aldo in the main event of WEC 51, while Assuncao just defeated LC Davis at WEC 52 back in November. However, Raphael lost his last two fights before that, so this should be a good gauge for where both men stand in the brand new UFC featherweight division, and see who gets closer to fighting Jose Aldo for the championship.
And speaking of Aldo, the Brazilian phenom (that isn’t Vitor Belfort) is expected to make his first title defense against Mark Hominick at UFC 129, providing Hominick defeats George Roop at UFC: Fight For The Troops 2. The featherweight division in the UFC is heating up, but how do you think they compare to the featherweights of other companies like Bellator or DREAM?
