According to MMA fighting renown Japanese MMA organization Sengoku Raiden Championship, had just released their middleweight champion Jorge Santiago. Jorge Santiago the well rounded Brazilian fighting out of American Top Team, was last seen in a second encounter with Japanese brawler and former Grabaka powerhouse Kazuo Misaki for the SRC middleweight belt.

Prior to the fight Jorge Santiago fought Misaki for the first time for the vacant middleweight championship winning by Rear naked choke in the 5th round, who would then fight Mamed Khalidov in a non-title fight losing by TKO in the 1st, but then rebounded with a win in a title rematch against Mamed Khalidov by unanimous decision. Coined as one of the best fights of 2010, this fight had quite a lot of striking exchanges, as well as a grappling clinic, with both fighters being able to knock each other down through out the fight. Although in the 5th round, a few seconds before the final bell the towel was thrown by Misaki’s corner whom during the fight had his back taken as Santiago was dropping bombs.

Santiago’s manager Malki Kawa, did not confirm or deny Santiago’s status of being a free agent. But other sources claim that Santiago is looking to sign up for a North American promotion. A fan on Twitter told Santiago that they want him to see him fight “Jacare” Souza, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, and Robbie Lawler in Strikeforce, Santiago replied with “I hope that happen too bro….Let’s see it.”

Though the question here is; Why release such a dominant champion such as Jorge Santiago? Is there some kind of conspiracy behind this? We shall see what is up next for Jorge Santiago.
